The official opening
took place one day before the presidential elections. The opening speech
has been read by the former Prime Minister and the Parliament Speaker, N.
Enkhbayar, who had been personally supportive to the project for more than a year.
The destiny wanted him the following day to become the third President in
the Mongolian history... |
My sincere
gratitude goes to this linguist and writer, Mr. Tangadyn Galsan, who was
fighting for the idea of Rinchen' s monument when nearly no one else
believed it could ever turn into reality...

(Left) The
ceremony was nevertheless attended by all three presidential candidates -
Mr. Enhkbayar, candidate of the ex-communist Mongolian People' s Party
(first row, third from the
right), Mr. Enkhsaikhan, candidate of the Democratic Party (first row,
second from the right) and Mr. Enkhbat, candidate of the Democratic New
Socialist Party (on the photo below with the blue "khadak").
(Below) When I look into the
face of my father, Academician Mr. Rinchengiin Barsbold (third from the
left, with grey hair), in the moment when not only the leaders of
democratic movement (below) but even the representatives of the
same political movement that had made hell of lives of Rinchen and
thousands of others, pay his father a tribute, I could
hardly feel deeper satisfaction... Both of them, Rinchen as well as his
son, have really deserved this moment. |
